B16 - SPACE JAM

Space Jam is a series of open public events at Kunsthall Oslo for young people and adults with an interest in dance and music who want to gather for an alcohol-free event where they can express themselves creatively together.The event is a collaborative project between Kunsthall Oslo, Assata, B16 dance collective, Tuva Ekelund and Agenda-X.

Space Jam is an outdoor street party with DJs, clothes swapping, local artists, food service and businesses on stands.The event will be a gathering point where the public can alternate between dancing, eating, socializing, buying and supporting local BIPOC businesses. .The intention of the event is to facilitate an arena for artists, sustainable businesses and local zealots where they can expose their work and interact with the public in a dynamic way.As well as creating a safe space for personal expression, social cohesion and belonging through music, dance and the opportunity to experience a diversity of artistic expressions together.

B16 is a dance collective based in Oslo. The collective was established by Amie Mbye in 2021 and consists of 20 dancers, actors, singers, poets and writers between the ages of 18 and 33 who work broadly with dance; they do performance, organization of workshops and talks fo youth and young adults, dance jams and battles. The collective represents a rich spectrum of dancers with the aim of creating safe spaces of opportunity for young people interested in the arts and, not least, broadening the horizon of what and who is represented in the dance field in Norway. B16 has performed on stages such as the Norwegian Theater during the Hedda Award, P3 GULL, Soul Sessions Womanhood and the Nobel Peace Prize Center, among others.
